A native northwesterner with the pale skin to prove it, Stefanie took a leap of faith in 1996 and became the thirtieth employee at an unknown Internet company called Amazon.com. She quickly put romance and women’s fiction on the map, producing one of the top three Amazon.com Delivers mailings, reaching over 100,000 subscribers on a bi-monthly basis.
She received many accolades for her work, including the 1999 Romance Bookseller of the Year Award (as given by the New York chapter of Romance Writers of America) and Amazon’s own coveted (but little-known) Warm Fuzzy prize. (Want to know what the Warm Fuzzy is? Contact Stefanie.)
Stefanie retired from her role as the Romance, Women’s Fiction, and Biographies editor in October 2001 to write, travel, become a yoga goddess, investigate motherhood, and learn how to cook. In her humble opinion, three out of five isn’t bad—and besides, it’s early days yet. Stefanie currently resides in Seattle.
